Team Fortress 2

Though I've had the Orange Box for a couple years, I had never really played Team Fortress Two. That changed a few days ago. I turned it on and had a blast.

TF2 is an online class based FPS. There are ~6 playable maps, and each has its own rules, such as capture the flag, territory control, or attack/defense.

The fun part about TF2 is that there are 9 playable classes, or characters, that one can play. Each class has its own set of strengths and special abilities.  Here are a few of my favorites:

  • Scout:  The scout is the fastest class.  Though, not very strong, he can outrun any pursuer and captures control points twice as fast as the other classes.  I use this class to either quickly get a look around the enemy's base or to attempt to capture their flag.  [He is shown above the "ess" of fortress holding a baseball bat]
  • Spy:  The spy is a sneaky bugger.  He can disguise himself as members of the other team, allowing him to move through their base mostly unhindered.  He can also become completely invisible for a short time for undetected infiltration.  Once inside a base, he can sabotage enemy turrets or stab enemies in the back for an instant kill.  [He is shown third from the left]
  • Engineer:  The engineer can construct three different types of buildings: turrets, dispensers, and teleporters.  Turrets protect an area from enemies, firing upon any who enter its range.  Dispensers dispense health and ammo to nearby teammates.  Teleporters allow teammates to quickly be transported between two locations.  [He is shown second from the left]
  • Heavy:  The heavy, short for heavy weapons guy, is the strongest, though slowest, class.  Armed with a massive chain gun, he can quickly decimate anyone unfortunate enough to get close.  Due to his high health and medium-range weapons, he is great for defending an area.[He is shown in the center, wielding the massive chaingun
