Drama

I'm certainly no expert at drama. However, the following are things that I beleive should be done in our production. Some of these ideas may be wrong. If so, I apologize. Anyway, here they are:
-Directions should are given ONLY by the directors. Actors/spectators shouldn't be yelling at each other
-Directors should actually give directions. Running through the motions without any sort of direction only helps to a point
-Life should be added to the characters. They should appear to be liveing, breathing, thinking people, not moving line reciters
-Elaborating upon the last point, more emotion is necessary. Again, actors are not walking line reciters. They need to create the illusion of life.
-Characterization. We need some:
-Darby needs to be likable.
-Randy needs to be funny
-Tifany needs to be less of a jerk. Sure, she isn't the nicest person around, but she and Darby are in a relationship for part of the play. The audience, at least in the begining, should see her good side.
-Less emotion. Specifically anger. Everyone seems angry. Of course, anger is necessary in some scenes. But the whole play seems steeped with it.
-Visual interest. A lot of the play is simply people talking to each other. Unless the topic is incredibly significant, something needs to be going on. These are busy kids. They will be doing things while they are talking.
-People need to stop goofing off. Nothing, or at most, very little, will get done if people are not taking their work seriously. One of the reasons they are goofing off is boredom. Making the characters interesting would make them interesting to portray, and thus reduce the sillyness.
-The overall feel of the play. It's about snarky 90's teenagers. The lines shouldn't be read exactly as they are written. They include sarcasm, understatement, understatement, humor, seriousness. As I keep saying, these are living people. They're not robots; they add emotion and inflection
